In October League of Legends introduced the pet system to replace the jungle items. These pets are purchased in the store and will grow during the match when the jungler feeds them treats acquired by killing enemy champions and neutral monsters. There are three monsters: the green salamander gives the jungler more tenacity, the blue fox aids in mobility, and the red cat is ideal for more aggressive junglers. Thanks to a new mod created by a player, the League’s “starters” have gained a look that is very familiar to players.

The pet system left League of Legends players uncertain, but the player Un Pelotudo Jugando showed on their Twitter the mod that gives the characters a new look. The pets appear on the base and follow the player, and feature the same sound effects that Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur have in the Pokemon games. The video also shows the player killing the jungle monsters with the characters already in their final forms of Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur. Although the intermediate evolutions (Charmeleon, Wartortle, and Ivysaur) do not appear in the mod when the player kills the jungle monsters the mod plays the Pokemon evolution music.
The use of custom skin mods in League of Legends is not exactly prohibited, but it follows the “use at your own risk” philosophy. Examples of custom skins for champions abound, such as Graves transformed into Doom Slayer, Samira as Bayonetta, and even Singed with a custom skin of Walter White from the popular TV series Breaking Bad. Mod use in Pokemon games, on the other hand, is more common, and some examples turn out to be curious. Recently a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet mod removed Ed Sheeran’s song from the game, being the first mod of the new generation of Pokemon games.
League of Legends is preparing to host a new season in 2023, and to that end, Riot Games has announced several pre-season changes, the debut of the pet system being one of them. Other new features include the return of the Quimtec Dragon, jungle improvements, and new vision pings options. With a new season coming, it’s a good time for those who want to learn beginner-friendly League of Legends champions and face the challenges of Summoner’s Rift.
League of Legends is available now for Mac and PC.
